...with California! Never in a million years did I think I would say that, but it would be a lie to say I wasn't. Forget the fears of eartherquakes, mudslides and the western-half of the state potentially falling into the Pacific, all I can think of now are the miles of pristine beaches, the amazing weather, the variety in topography, and of course the people-watching....it's all there....and I was sad to leave it all behind. Madelyn and I took a long weekend adventure to visit my long-time childhood friend Julie. She has been out in Cali for more than five years now, and I finally fulfilled my promise of visiting her. We could not have asked for a more beautiful weekend....sun, sun, sun....and lots of cool breezes. I had no idea sweaters, even jackets, were necessary L.A. summer accouterments, but at night, they were welcome with open arms...especially after the swealtering heat of home. Just like Abba, we were supertroopers on our arrival day. After a five hour journey by plane we landed early Friday morning....where did we head??? Disneyland!!!! And yes, Disneyland is truly the happiest place on earth. We were in a magical kingdom and loved every minute. That night we walked across and spend our evening in Disney's California Adventure....it was the perfect day. Saturday we travled to the beautiful coastline of La Jolla...Madelyn "swam" with the seals at the Children's Cove of "Seal Beach" and we just enjoyed the scenery and relaxation. San Diego is definitely a paradise of its own...our hotel room had an amazing view of the bay, and again, the weather was so delightful. The San Diego Zoo was a "theme park" all its own....there was so much to see and do, but our favorite exhibit had to be the Pandas...we were super lucky to catch them at an active and playful time, especially considering they spend a great deal of time sleeping. The Koala exhibit came in a close second. Monday we spent the day at Mission Beach....pure pleasure....Thanks Julie!
